Details for the CCNA Security course at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2013:
CCNA Security
The course will be offered part-time over 4 months. (Two four-hour sessions per week)
The course will start in March and run through to June.
Class will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 17:00 until 21:00
The course will run only if there are enough applicants
Cost
CCNA Security Module R 6500 (cost does not include the international exam fee, see certification information paragraph).
Module fees include all course materials, textbooks and handouts.
A non-refundable deposit of R2000 per student will be payable upon the successful application by no later than 15 February 2013. This amount will be offset against the fee of the CCNA Security course.
Payment Options
First Option:
- (10% discount applies if this payment option is used)
- A 60% deposit of the course fee has to be paid before March 2013. The balance of must be paid by June 2013.
Second Option:
- Payment over two instalments of R3250 over two months can be arranged.
Note: Most major credit cards are acceptable for payment.

Cancellation of Course
Should a student cancel the course and request a refund, a written letter is required from the student or the company who have made the payment. A 10% cancellation fee will be deducted and the refund will be paid within 30 days.
Duration
The start date of the course will be confirmed closer to the time.
Classes are twice week on Tuesday and Thursday.
Time is allocated for the classes from 17:00 – 21:00. Class is open from 17:00 for the students to write exams, do practical etc. Classes start with theory at 17:30 and then continue with theory and practical until around 21:00.
Certification
A course completion certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each module. Students are strongly encouraged to write the corresponding industry certification at a Pearson VUE Testing Centre on completion of the course. The cost of this examination will be for the student’s own account.
NQF Levels/Accreditation from SAQA
As a public higher education institution, the NMMU is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education.
The CCNA Security course is aligned with a career/vocational certification and is therefore not registered with SAQA. Cisco offers five levels of general IT certification: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert and Architect. The CCNA Security course is pitched at the Associate level within the Cisco Career Certification program.
Prerequisites
Students should have at least completed the CCNA course or certification, or have relevant industry experience.
