On the 27th July 2018, students of the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT), hosted a 36 hour Hackathon in R128 on North Campus.

Participating teams were challenged develop the best functioning Android app and web reporting system within 36 hours. The app and web system are a digital version of the current referee system used on the bike course of the IRONMAN triathlon.  Thank everyone that made it to the Hackathon. To the participants, you were great, your enthusiasm and positive spirit helped make our time together both productive and fun. A very big thank you to our judges that took time out of their busy schedules to make time for this event, Damian Giulietti from Perfect Circle Design, Siya Nzimande from IRONMAN South Africa, Dr Lester Cowley & Tlhago Sejosoengoe from BATSAMAYI; and most importantly our volunteer assistants and sponsors (IRONMAN South Africa, BATSAMAYI & Nelson Mandela University -School of Information & Communication Technology) who saw to it that everyone was well fed, got the needed assistance and that everyone made it to the last hour.
